Today was our annual fall wellness day with elementary participating in a walk and various activities in the afternoon while our secondary traveled to Wartburg for activities there. As part of Senior Careers class and attention to volunteering and community service, seniors are participating in a contest the Northeast Iowa Food Bank is hosting. Small groups of seniors were assigned to an elementary classroom to explain the contest and to get the elementary students excited! Our goal is to collect 1,250 items. Great job seniors! #TVPride

On October 6th Turkey Valley's 6-12 grade students joined 93 other schools across the state to participate in the Iowa Youth Straw Poll hosted by the Iowa Secretary of State's office. Students were invited to cast their ballots for the District 2 House race, the Iowa Senate race, and Iowa gubernatorial race. Across the state over 11,000 ballots were cast and 57 counties were represented. This is a great opportunity for students to learn about and express their civic duty.

With Turkey Valley's Volleyball win over Kee last night they move on to the next round of Regionals! They will play Wednesday at Edgewood-Colesburg at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. and you can purchase tickets beforehand on Bound or at the door with a card or cash. Admission will be $10.
The Turkey Valley seniors had an opportunity to hear from several local candidates running for office this fall. Rather than focusing on politics, our discussion centered on civic duty, public service, voting, and the importance of being an engaged citizen. It was a great opportunity for students to see democracy in action and recognize that their voices matters. Civic engagement isn’t just a right. It’s a responsibility! #TVPride
October 19-23 is National School Bus Safety Week - We are very grateful for our wonderful bus drivers for safely getting our students to and from school every day, to and from sporting events and extracurricular events, and field trips through sunshine, cloudy nights, rainstorms, snowstorms, and everything else Mother Nature throws at us!
