Mrs. Converse’s Preschool class had a Where the Wild Things Are party today!! We read the story, made crowns, dressed like wild animals, brought a wild animal to share our story, and had a snack with gnashing teeth and terrible claws. #TVPride

Red Ribbon Week 2020 “Be Happy. Be Brave. Be Drug Free.” Turkey Valley will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week October 26 - 29. Dress-up days are listed below. What is Red Ribbon Week? Red Ribbon Week serves to honor the memory of DEA Agent Kiki Camarena. Agent Camarena was killed in 1985 as a result of a battle to fight drugs. He believed that one person could make a difference. Turkey Valley’s YODA (Youth Opposed to Drugs and Alcohol) high school student group also believes that one person can make a difference and that if we work together, great things can happen. We want all of our students to be safe and make healthy decisions by choosing to not do drugs or drink alcohol. Please join us by celebrating Red Ribbon Week and by making good decisions. Together, we can make a difference! Monday, October 26: Put A Cap on Drugs….Wear your favorite hat. Tuesday, October 27: Block out Drugs...Wear black. Wednesday, October 28: Kick Drugs to the Curb…..Wear your favorite boots. Thursday, October 29: Scare Away Drugs….Dress Up for Halloween Friday, October 30: NO SCHOOL #TVPride

Updated Information for ALL: October 20, 2020 Turkey Valley Parents and Community Members, the district was recently notified that Gaiters and Face Shields are no longer acceptable face coverings when dealing with COVID-19. The district works with Winneshiek Public Health and the Iowa Department of Public Health on this issue. We have confirmed with Krista VanDen Brink at public health that a bandana does not work as a mask. Because of this, the district is asking everyone’s help in making sure your child no longer uses these face coverings and is using an acceptable face covering which is a cloth mask. The district purchased one mask for every staff member and student at the beginning of the year. Your child may wear that one or any others you may have. Our quarantine and positivity rates remain extremely low. This will help us continue to be able to attend school in person and also to continue with our activities. We appreciate your continued support as we go through these challenging times. Our primary concern remains the safety of our students and staff and this will help keep everyone safe. If you have any questions, please contact the principal’s office.
