Turkey Valley Pick Up Night

Thursday, April 9th from 3:30-7:00 PM

On Thursday, April 9th, from 3:30 to 7:00 PM, we will have “Pick Up Night”. This will include students cleaning out their lockers and picking up all of their belongings, chromebooks, textbooks, handouts etc.  We want students to have all that they need to continue learning during this school closure and this will allow custodians to clean lockers, desks and rooms.

We want to make this an opportunity for elementary students to see their teachers.  Teachers will be returning all student items, so we encourage you to bring your child(ren) along. Elementary children WILL NOT get out of the vehicles, but we want them to wave and give a big hello to their teachers!  We ask for your cooperation as we want to keep everyone safe.

Preschool through 6th grade teachers will be stationed in the elementary parking lot, by the overhang.  Please drive by the elementary office entrance and turn by the preschool end of the building.  Drive passed each station, stopping only at the grade level(s) in which you have a child attending.  Please have only one adult step out of the car. The teacher will place your child's belongings on the table.  You can pick them up from there.

Please remember social distancing.  We need to keep you, your families, our staff and their families - The entire Turkey Valley family - SAFE!

7-12  grade students need to come to school on Thursday between 3:30 - 7:00 PM to clean out their lockers and pick up all of their belongings, chromebooks, textbooks, handouts etc.  We want students to have everything they need to continue learning during this school closure.

  • 7-12 Students ONLY will enter through the high school entrance. (Parents please wait in your vehicle).

  • Students will gather items from their locker/locker room.  Ten students will be allowed into the building at a time, so your patience is appreciated.

  • You will have 10 minutes to gather and go, once you have entered the building.

  • Classrooms will be locked, so any items left there cannot be removed.

  • Entry and exit will be through the high school office entry only for monitoring purposes.

Please remember social distancing.  We need to keep you, your families, our staff and their families - The entire Turkey Valley family - SAFE!

Out of State Trips Canceled

Administration has been following the expanding coronavirus or COVID-19, and has been in communication with the Winneshiek County Department of Public Health. The immediate health risk from COVID-19 is low for the general public. However, as the outbreak expands we feel it is in the best interest of the health and safety of our students that we cancel out-of-state trips at this time. Seniors will not be traveling to Chicago and the 7th and 8th graders will not be traveling on the Washington D.C. trip this year.

There will be more information to follow regarding possible refunds for those who have made payments.

The administration’s first priority is to do what is best for our students and in light of the current information it is our decision that it is not in their best interest to travel.

The Depot Outlet awarded Turkey Valley School a $2,000 grant to purchase new CPR manikins. The new
manikins have a feedback device in them which allows the students immediate feedback on whether
their CPR quality is adequate. The sensor lights up signaling to the students if they are compressing the
appropriate rate and depth. This immediate feedback allows students to correct their technique as they
are learning and help them to perform high quality CPR as they practice and test. The grant also allowed
the school to purchase a new Zoll AED practice trainer. Turkey Valley currently has 3 on site Zoll AEDs,
so the trainer matching the live ones, will help students and staff feel more comfortable should the
event arise that it needs to be used.
The students and staff at Turkey Valley express a huge thank you to the Depot Outlet and all those who
support their cause. The grant money received will help teach our students an extremely important
lifesaving skill that can be used not just within the building, but in the community as well. Thank you
again to the Depot Outlet!
